Community Options Programs

The Community Options program offers a range of programs design to help adults and youth with cognitive, psychological, emotional and or social challenges to develop to their potential and improve their lives.

Programs focus on skill development (personal, social, vocational and educational) as well as opportunities provided through community living.

The Community Options Program provides a safe, stable, homelike environment for clients in the Western Region of Nova Scotia. An optimal level of support is provided to each individual based on their needs to ensure personal growth through all aspects of positive living.


Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre operates a number of Small Options Homes in our community for both youth and adults.

Four Children’s Small Options Homes (Youth 9-16 years old) on admission

Intensive programming develops personal growth for youth in a safe and supportive environment with academic and experiential learning opportunities.


Work programs provide employment opportunities for adults with intellectual and physical challenges in Kings County. We provide training and skill development enhancing personal growth and employable skills.
Educational and recreational opportunities provide experiences that foster personal development and independent living skills.

Adults are supported with personal and vocational training. Various woodworking and furniture refinishing services, crafts and consignment services enable individuals to realize their fullest potential. We are a not-for-profit off-site adult developmental work program and small business centre of the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre.
